Special and Custom Machines by Peter Prinzing
Tailored solutions that are adapted to the customer’s requirements and product are our passion. This allows Prinzing’s standard range to be expanded by a variety of special machines.
Overview of Our Special Machines
Conical Roll Bending Machines RK and RZK
The roll bending machines RK and RZK offer a highly precise way to bend conical products under NC control. Depending on the application, either two or four rolls are used, which are controlled via a PLC. The resulting high repeat accuracy simplifies subsequent work on a longitudinal seam welding machine and enables an industrial standard. The feed is driven by a steplessly adjustable brake motor.

Flange Machine FME
The flange machine FME offers a convenient way to produce flanges of any size. The forming technology of the FME eliminates the need for labor-intensive welding. 90° flanges can be manufactured on this machine with excellent quality. The FME can also meet requirements where conventional flanging machines reach their limits, such as flange heights up to 50mm.
The models FME 4 and FME 8 process sheet thicknesses up to 4 mm and 8 mm as well as pipe diameters up to 1,200 mm and 1,500 mm, respectively. Flange heights are up to 25 mm for the FME 4 and 50 mm for the FME 8. Both feature a flanging unit with roller-mounted work shafts, a motor-adjustable top roll, and a steplessly adjustable brake motor. Control is via a touchscreen with program memory for up to 200 programs. For precise pipe processing, an adjustable pipe guide, a pneumatic pipe counter-holder, and pipe holding devices are integrated, along with a frame with motorized pipe length adjustment. The information concerning sheet thickness refers to material with 400 N/mm² tensile strength and 250 N/mm² yield strength.
Tension Band Machine SME-S
The tension band machine is based on a conventional beading machine, which is expanded by various components, such as a pre-profiling unit and a bending wedge. The sheet metal strips pass through several tools but only need to be inserted into the machine once. In the first step, the inserted sheet metal strips undergo pre-profiling, where the “rough” shape of the tension bands is created by pre-profiling rolls. Subsequently, the tension bands pass through the profiling rolls of the beading machine, forming the completed contour. The tension bands are guided by the profiling rolls over a bending wedge, rounding the tension bands to the desired diameter. Depending on the range of functions, the approach of the upper roll is designed to be manual or motorized and controlled by a PLC.
Edge Former KFE
Pipes with specially cut ends cannot be processed with a conventional flanging machine. For these requirements, the edge former KFE is the right machine. The machine is equipped with a hydraulic forming slide that comes with a die specifically tailored to the pipe’s shape. A typical area of application for the edge former is the production of pipes for T-pieces.
The example size KFE 1 is suitable for pipe diameters ranging from 80 to 320 mm. The maximum pipe length is 250 mm. The flange height is between 4 and 10 mm. For steel sheets, a maximum sheet thickness of 1.2 mm can be processed, and for stainless steel 1.4301, the maximum sheet thickness is 0.8 mm.
Circle Cutting and Profiling System KSMR
The KSMR is a system with two workstations. The combination of circular shear and beading unit allows sheet rings to be manufactured and profiled in just one clamping. The system can be programmed via a touchscreen.
The facility features a circular shear station and a beading unit, both with continuously adjustable motorized positioning. A stable base frame and a side carriage with linear guidance ensure precise movement of both workstations. The equipment is complemented by a motor-adjustable guide bar, integrated sheet centering, and a support table. Control is conveniently handled via a programmable touchscreen, while a safety fence with light curtain provides necessary protection.
Automated Loading and Unloading
The sheet metal processing machines from Prinzing can be integrated into almost any automated production line. All machines can be expanded with automated loading and unloading systems. The machines can, for example, be loaded using a loading portal or a robot with pneumatic suction cups or grippers. Machine tables can be expanded with automatic pushers, ensuring precise positioning of the workpieces. The removal of finished parts can also be automated. Furthermore, machines can be complemented by magazines and finished parts storage or conveyor belts.
Fully Automatic Forming System
The fully automatic forming system (UFA) allows different forming processes to be combined. This can save setup times and produce workpieces with high demands in the shortest cycle time. The forming processes and the transport system are adjusted to the product requirements.
